Marketed towards babies six months and older, follow up formulas generally have more calcium iron and protein than regular formula and have more calories per ounce than regular formula. Follow up formulas also cost less than standard baby formula.

Most babies over six months old should be able to get enough nutrition from the solid foods he is eating and not require a follow up formula.  If baby isn't eating solids well you might consider asking your doctor if a change to a follow up formula is a good idea.
