It is estimated that at least fifty percent of all newborns (up to 85% of premature babies) are born with some degree of infant reflux and that number is rising.  While it's true that most of these babies outgrow their condition within the first few months of life and many do not require medical intervention for their reflux, there are a percentage who do not outgrow it and are really bothered by their infant reflux.  There are also many who suffer dreadful complications and do not respond to even the most aggressive treatment.
