Does anyone know of a reflux medication that really works great on babies? I have an 8 week old baby who has silent reflux. In the past with another daughter I have tried Zantac, Reglan, and Prevacid and none of them worked for her.
I know very little about peds meds, but have you tried Prilosec? There are also Protonix, Kapidex, and Aciphex. But I don't know if they are for pediatric use. Reglan isn't actually a reflux med, its a motility med. Erythromayacin is also used for motility if mitochondrial disease isn't an issue.
You might also try to add Maylox or Mylanta to the mix to see if that helps any.

Hi, i just wanted to say Hi = i am a fellow mom from Orange County, Mission Viejo to be specific so Welcome , this is a great place to be!!
What worked for my DD Emma was Prevacid, but it took a good month for us to see the results. Emma had reflux since birth + Food allergies...
I am sure others will chime in as well.

Hi and welcome! It's so hard to find the med that works for your little one since every child is so different.
Ava has been on Zantac, Reglan, Prilosec, Prevacid, and Nexium, and Nexium was by far our best! She's currently on compounded Prilosec, which I know many have had great success with.
Are you currently seeing a GI or is your ped managing your son's care? You may want to ask for a referral to GI.
Severe GERD from birth, former FTT, major feeding difficulties, dysphagia, episodic pseudo-obstruction, SID, developmental delays, sensory ataxia, areflexia, muscle weakness and fatigue, hypotonia, arrhythmia and bradycardia (pacemaker 10/6/09), autonomic issues...
Hi there. I think most kids on the board are on Prevacid. We use Prilosec, and used to have Zantac added in as well but it seems to have lost its effectiveness for us. Sometimes combining meds like that is the way to go though.
I was going to ask you - how long have you tried each med for? The PPIs like Prilosec and Prevacid take at LEAST 2 weeks to see a difference and can be a good month before you really see a big change (it takes awhile for the damage to heal, etc).
Prevacid is probably the most convenient dosage form (the solutab) because you dont have to worry about things like stability, refridgeration, etc.
